Diane Fraser to Present and Speak at October’s Meeting

Diane Fraser, our speaker at our October meeting, is a very accomplished and prolific classical realist Painter. She has her studio and gallery in Five Points, where she paints and teaches art classes regularly. Diane began her art studies at the Ringling School of Art in Sarasota. She received her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago and her Master of Fine Arts at the New York Academy of Art. Diane has enjoyed teaching art at several colleges through the years and has produced a series videos of course lessons and demonstrations. Representations of her still life, landscape and figure art work can be viewed on her website at www.dianefraserpaintings.com

Artist Statement:
“My paintings are about order and tranquility. One of the most important purposes of my work is to discover and present harmony in contrast to the frequent disorder and tension of everyday life. My goal is to provide technically capable paintings imbued with a sense of well-being. They are affirmations of the joy I find in the real world, filtered through my perception and formal sensibility. I strive to heighten the clarity of visual reality and affirm my positive view of the world.
The technical aspects of these works include efforts to group objects in ways that create points of rest and contemplation. Light always plays a key role in my paintings. I often employ it to provide pathways through the image for the eye. Maintaining the integrity of form and volume is important to me. It is particularly challenging when working with radically different light conditions in a single painting. I’ve always considered light and cast shadow to be my ‘wild card’ for guiding the eye and enhancing the composition.
My aim has been to display orderly and peaceful settings rendered with the highest skill I can muster. I hope those who see these paintings will enjoy them.”
