NOV 13th 2023 - SARAH CROOKS
Presentation by Sarah Crooks
Art designed to nurture wonder Monday, NOV 13th, 2023 5:30 p.m. Reception / 6:00 p.m. Presentation Informed by a deep sense of ecology, I create multidisciplinary site-specific installations and artifacts blending environmental science with spiritual evolution. These mythopoetic stories of transformation model empathy while shifting our culture of domination to reciprocity. By healing our sense of separation from the living world, we re-member our wholeness.
Certified as a Florida Master Naturalist in 2014, and trained as a Botanical Illustrator at the New York Botanic Gardens (1997-99) my work celebrates the seen and unseen. Rooted in wonder, handwork becomes meditation where sewing, drawing, and printmaking transform humble materials into monumental immersive experiences. READ MORE... Held at the

Woodcuts and Linocuts Monday, JAN 8th, 2024 5:30 p.m. Reception / 6:00 p.m. Presentation I’m Kristina and I create unique pieces of art that add a splash of color to your home.
Inspired by the colors, shapes, and beauty found in nature, I aim to bring that vibrancy into your home through original woodcuts. |
All my artwork is original-hand drawn, carved, and pressed by me. I use one block of wood, that I carve layer by layer, color by color, until the block is reduced and most of the image is carved away. I produce small limited editions of each image, and once the block is fully carved and the last color is printed, the edition is done. I can not print anymore from the block of wood, making them truly unique.

FEB 12th 2024 - DOUGLAS JOHNSON, MD
Presentation by Douglas Johnson
Life and Art Intertwined Monday, Feb 12th, 2024 5:30 p.m. Reception / 6:00 p.m. Presentation Oils and acrylics are my media of choice, and for the last 50+ years I have enjoyed painting both in the studio and outdoors, en plein air. My heroes are the Impressionists of the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Although largely self-taught, I have more recently studied under Paul Ladnier, George Van Hook, Ken DeWaard, and Bill Farnsworth. I'm honored to have received numerous awards in regional art shows and have had my images published in several national magazines. My work is now represented in private collections throughout the United States, from Nevada to Florida and from California to New York.

Having moved away from my early years of tight photo-realism, I now rather try to capture the mood, action, or history of a subject. Depicting the interaction of humanity's creations (via architecture or machine) alongside the beauty of nature is especially compelling.
When not in the field painting, my wife and I split our time between our studios near the Atlantic Ocean in northeastern Florida and mountains of northeastern Georgia.

Wood Turning Monday, Mar 11th, 2024 5:30 p.m. Reception / 6:00 p.m. Presentation As a maker, the goal of my work is to use color, texture, and form to create a visually stimulating object. This also provides me with the means to develop my own unique artistic voice. I put an effort into not using my art as a means to push my own personal beliefs onto the audience. I believe that any meaning or concept belongs to the viewer; the appeal of the work is what is paramount. I draw my inspiration from life, nature and my community. Don Penny

A woman, her lathe and some wood. As a maker, I am looking for the perfect balance between my head, my heart and my hands. My love/hate relationship with wood continues to teach, inspire and express my creative spirit. Kathy McCall

MAY 13th 2024 - Gail Beveridge
Presentation by Gail Beveridge
Oil & Acrylic Monday, May 13th, 2024 5:30 p.m. Reception / 6:00 p.m. Presentation Art is Gail’s outlet for expression and has guided her through life, first with a career in interior design and subsequently as a sculptor and now a painter. “ I’ve always been a visual person and being able to express my vision of the world through painting is a joyful experience. Finding the right words sometimes eludes me, but if my paintings evoke a special feeling or memory for the viewer, than I have succeeded in communicating on a very personal level with that person and that is important to me. "
Gail has received several awards for her paintings and has been featured in numerous juried exhibitions, including Oil Painters of America Salon Show in 2020, the National Oil & Acrylic Painters Society Small Works Exhibition in 2022 and the Art League of Hilton Head's 2023 National Biennale Exhibition. |
She had her first solo exhibition, titled Embracing Nature, in 2022 at the Lightner Museum in Saint Augustine. In 2023, the Cummer Museum of Art & Gardens in Jacksonville, FL invited Gail to have a solo exhibition in conjunction with its major traveling exhibition - American Made - Paintings & Sculpture from the DeMell Jacobsen Collection. She has also exhibited at the Jacksonville International Airport (JIA) in 2018 and again in 2023.
